Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Senegal. The Embassy is also accredited to the Republic of The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Mali. The mission was opened in January 2020, in line with Kenya’s commitment to expand and strengthen its mutually beneficial relations with the Francophone Region of West Africa.
The main objective of the embassy is to promote relations with the countries of accreditation, within the framework of the following five pillars, as outlined in Kenya’s foreign policy agenda: Economic and trade diplomacy, environmental diplomacy, promotion of peace and security, cultural diplomacy, and last but not least, diaspora diplomacy.
Like Senegal on the West Coast, Kenya occupies a strategic position that makes it a gateway to the East and Central African region, as well as to the major markets of the EAC and COMESA, key trading blocs at this critical time when the African continent is rapidly moving towards the realization of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
We hope this website will provide useful information about Kenya, its people, economy, culture, history, governance structures, ministries, and institutions. Kenya is considered a highly attractive country, offering one of the best business environments in the region, with numerous trade and investment opportunities. These include a fully liberalized market, a robust legal system, an independent and dynamic media landscape, a champion of the environment, and a warm and welcoming society that is a cosmopolitan, multicultural, multilingual, and multi-religious melting pot. Our capital, Nairobi, is not only the financial and diplomatic center of the region, it is also home to the only United Nations headquarters in a developing country, namely UNON and UN-HABITAT.
Massive government investment in infrastructure and decentralization of power has led to exponential growth across Kenya’s 47 counties, each offering unique opportunities for business cooperation, investment, and trade. A young, innovative, and skilled workforce gives Kenya a leading edge in the ICT and service sectors. The rich geographical diversity and famous wildlife and bird sanctuaries and reserves have made Kenya a leading tourist destination, offering a variety of safaris to suit all tastes throughout the year! In addition, Kenya Airways, the pride of Africa, offers several weekly flights to Nairobi from Dakar, providing not only a magical Kenyan travel experience but also seamless connectivity within the region and beyond.
For our compatriots in the region, the interests of our diaspora remain a key commitment for us at the Embassy. We are convinced that the link to the unique e-Citizen platform, which provides access to most government services, will be invaluable to you. We count on your cooperation to provide you with consular assistance or any other form of service to the best of our ability. We will also seek to benefit from your experience, expertise, and contribution, not only for the realization of Kenya’s development program, but also for the creation of strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood in the countries where we are accredited, in Africa, and in the international community.
Thank You, JËRËJËF!
